The Michigan Gaming Control Board Cracks Down on 11 Illegal Offshore Gambling Websites
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has recently taken decisive action against 11 illegal offshore gambling websites operating within the state. These platforms were found to be offering unlicensed gambling services in direct violation of Michigan law.
Illegal Offshore Gambling Websites
The 11 illegal offshore gambling websites targeted by the MGCB include Bet Big Dollar Casino, Blood Moon Casino, DogsFortune, Grand Eagle Online Casino, Highway Casino, Jumba Bet Casino, Las Atlantis Casino, Ruby Slots Casino, Shazam Casino, SlotsRoom, and Spinfinity.
These operators were found to be violating the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code. As a response to these violations, the MGCB has issued cease-and-desist letters to the websites, ordering them to immediately cease operations.
Protecting Michigan Residents
Henry Williams, the Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board, emphasized the board’s commitment to ensuring a fair, safe, and lawful gaming environment for all Michigan residents. He stated, “Shutting down these unlicensed platforms is critical not only to maintaining the integrity of Michigan’s regulated gaming industry but also to protecting residents from predatory practices and unreliable gambling experiences.”
According to the MGCB, these illegal offshore platforms expose gamblers to financial risks and fail to adhere to state standards for responsible gaming, consumer protection, and data security. This leaves users vulnerable to fraud, identity theft, and other financial dangers.
Enforcement Actions
The MGCB has given the operators 14 days from receipt of the cease-and-desist letters to cease operations in Michigan. Failure to comply will result in legal action pursued by the Board and the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
In addition to the recent crackdown on the 11 illegal offshore gambling websites, the MGCB previously issued cease-and-desist letters to operators such as BetAnySports, CoolCat Casino, Diamond Sportsbook International, My Dreams Casino, NonStop Casino, Palace of Chance, Solar Game LTD, Busan Trade Office, WagerWeb, and Xbet Casino.
Furthermore, the MGCB recently sent cease-and-desist letters to Lucky Tiger Casino and Rich Palms Casino for conducting illegal gambling activities in the state. An investigation revealed that these online casinos, operated by Alistair Solutions NV located in Curaçao, were offering real-money gambling games to players in Michigan, including slot machines, table games, and video poker.
